The challenge

A major traffic intersection on Nambour Connection Road, Sunshine Coast, Queensland had become worn and slippery creating hazardous driving conditions. The existing asphalt surface on the busy road was a danger to vehicles and a solution was required to raise the friction level of the surface to ensure safety for drivers.

The Sabre solution

MPS Paving required proven quality high-friction surfacing that would provide an antiskid solution with exceptional strength, flexibility, and most importantly, high wear performance. The BBA approved LeesonGrip 2-1 (D3149/20) two-component solvent-free polyurethane solution was chosen for this project because of its unique performance properties. Installation

1827m2 of LeesonGrip 2-1 (D3149/20) was successfully installed throughout 2021. The extraordinary climate of Northern Queensland created an environment of high heat and humidity, creating challenging conditions for installation. The LeesonGrip system is formulated with inbuilt moisture tolerance technology reducing the risk of moisture impacting the curing of the antiskid system, which had been an issue for the client with other systems in similar environments previously.
